History of Football: Huddersfield Town FC

Origins: A rugby stronghold, the local Huddersfield and District F.A. had first discussed the establishment of a football club in the market town in 1906. However, it wasn't until two years later that wealthy woollen mill owner - John Hilton Crowther - provided the investment to enable the club to become a reality. After a meeting at the Albert Hotel, Huddersfield Town Association Football Club was registered as a limited company on 15th August 1908. The club joined the North-Eastern League before joining the Football League Second Division in 1910.
